Some newer phones record video in HDR (High Dynamic Range) formats such as HLG, HDR10, or Dolby Vision. While these formats make colors look more vivid, they can cause playback issues for customers viewing videos on older devices or web browsers.
To ensure every video plays smoothly in your Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) reports, please turn off HDR video recording in your camera settings.
Note: The exact menu names vary slightly depending on your phone model (Samsung, Google Pixel, OnePlus, etc.).
Open the Camera app.
Tap the Settings gear ⚙️ (top-left or top-right corner).
Scroll to Advanced video options or Video settings.
Turn Off the toggle for:
HDR10+ video, or
High dynamic range (HDR)
Open the Camera app.
Tap the Settings gear ⚙️ → Advanced.
Turn Off HDR video recording (sometimes labeled HDR+).
Open your Camera Settings → Video → Advanced Options → HDR.
If you see an option like Video Format, choose Standard or SDR instead of HDR.
Open the Settings app.
Tap Camera → Record Video.
Turn Off HDR Video (High Efficiency).
Optional: Under Camera → Formats, select Most Compatible to save videos in standard MP4 (H.264) format.
This ensures your videos are recorded in Standard Dynamic Range (SDR), which works on all browsers and devices.
Format: MP4 (H.264 codec)
Dynamic Range: SDR (HDR off)
Resolution: 1080p or 4K (30 fps recommended)
Audio: On
When HDR is enabled:
Some customers see videos that look washed out, too bright, or dark.
Older phones and web browsers can’t decode HDR, so videos may fail to play.
Uploads can take longer and create larger file sizes.
Disabling HDR ensures your inspection videos are highly compatible, smaller in size, and playable for all customers — no matter their device or browser.
